- the eastern end of the Golden Highway

Broke-Fordwich is an emerging
tourism area with a peaceful country ambience, just 30km from
Singleton
Broke began as a village at the end of the "Great North
Road" (a convict built road) . Here the road forked
to link with the central and upper regions of the Hunter Valley
Fordwich was originally given as a land grant to the explorer
John Blaxland, who named the property after his birthplace
- Fordwich, Kent U.K. After WW1 the property was
subdivided into the Fordwich Soldiers Settlement Purchase Area

There
is much to see and discover
Scenic
Yellow Rock which dominates the landscape, with parklands
adjoining the meandering Wollombi Brook beneath the spectacular
backdrop of the Hunter Range.
The
significant Aboriginal Heritage of the area
Wollemi
and Yengo National Parks contain significant wilderness areas
and are a declared World Heritage Area |

The Broke Fordwich wine
sub-region of the Hunter Valley the seasonal activities of over
50 vineyards, wineries, asa well as 5 cellar doors to taste and
enjoy the outstanding boutique wines of the area.
The Broke Village Store offers tastings of the wines from local
vineyards that do not have their own cellar door.
