Goulburn
River National Park

Lee's
Pinch Lookout |
South
of Merriwa, this National Park spans 70,000 hectares of mostly
sandstone country along the 90kms of the Goulburn River.
Access
from Merriwa is via the Ringwood Road which turns off the Golden
Highway 9kms west of Merriwa.
Ideal

wildlife observation. |
The
National Park also offers a spectacular from the Lee Pinch Lookout.
A
short looped track will lead you up this breathtaking view of the
surrounding National Park |

Hands on the Rock
|
This historic Aboriginal site is found in the Goulburn River
National park.
This area was used by the Aboriginals as a major trading route
between the coast and western plains.
Hands on the Rock is a hand stencil create by spraying red, white
and yellow clay pigments with the mouth over a hand held against the
rock.
This site is a cultural site so we ask that you respect it and
please help use to preserve it by not disturbing any sites.

The Drip
|
The Drip is also found in the Goulburn River National Park and is a
wonderful place to stop and have a picnic by the river.
There is a walking trail that will lead you through the sandstone
cliffs riddled with caves and shelter weeping ferns.
The gorges walls tower over above and are made up of sedimentary
rock. This area harbours a great range of both flora and fauna.

Bottle Museum
|
The Merriwa bottle museum (tour by arrangement) houses over
5000 bottles
ranging from hand made bottles to the round bottomed tornado
bottle.
All bottles were donated by local residents.

The Colonial Cottage
and
Museum
|
This
cottage is believed to have been built around 1856 by a Mr Leard.
Local
History suggests that it also served for a period as a bank, as well
as the cellar being used for dances and meetings.
The
cottage now holds Merriwa’s Historical Society Museum
With
items donated from around the district it is an interest display
with
three rooms and the cellar full of local’s relics

The Visitor Information
& RESOURCE Centre
Town Walk
|
The
Visitor Information & Resource Centre is located in Vennacher
St, 1/2 a block south of the Golden highway.
The centre offers a diverse range of pamphlets as well as souvenirs.
If you need any local information or travel information drop in.

5.00pm Mon – Friday
9.00am till 4.00pm
Sat-Sun
This
centre also offers you the Town Walk, a great way to take a step
back in time. This walk offers you a brief history behind each
building and a fascinating look at the development of the town.
