Historic railway town. The end of the rail line until the tunnel through the Great Dividing Range was opened in 1887 , taking rail access to all the towns and the vast grain and wool growing areas of the Liverpool Plains and  north west slopes and plains of New South Wales, as well as rail access to Brisbane.  Murrurundi VIC has information about local history.
