Built in 1871 by Thomas McGaurin for Michael Egan on land bought in the first sale of town land on 9th March 1854

Originally situated at 116 Rouse Street

The two front rooms were built circa 1860 of local pitsawn hardwood, sassafras slab and battens and a board roof, later covered with shingles and a brick chimney and fire place were added.

 More rooms (lined) and verandah were added later again

The cottage has been restored.
